Nathan Fielder Got Unusual Access to Elizabeth Holmes Before Prison. Now His Documentary Is Almost Here
The comedian surprised a Telluride Film Festival audience with a first look at the film no one knew he was making over the past 3 years. ‘You Can See Everything’ offers an intimate look at the Theranos founder’s life before and after she went to prison for defrauding investors.

No one quite knew what to expect before Sunday night’s mystery screening at the Telluride Film Festival, but they definitely weren’t expecting this: an out-of-the-blue three-hour documentary about disgraced Theranos chief executive officer Elizabeth Holmes from comedian Nathan Fielder and director Lance Oppenheim.
Or, as Variety described it, “Two artists who are obsessed with how the camera warps the thing it records, turned loose on the most studied liar of the century.”

The intriguingly titled You Can See Everything, coming to theaters October 16, was apparently the best-kept secret in Hollywood.
The Telluride audience was the first to learn that Holmes invited the filmmakers to her Southern California home in 2023, five weeks before she reported to federal prison to begin serving an 11-year sentence. The former CEO was convicted of defrauding investors by claiming Theranos had developed technology that could conduct a wide range of medical tests with only a few drops of blood.

Much to his own surprise, Fielder soon moved in with Holmes and her partner, Billy Evans. It was the beginning of a three-year immersion in the convicted felon’s personal life as Holmes sought to rehabilitate her public image.

“I’m really struggling to this day to understand what I experienced,” Fielder said at a post-screening question-and-answer session. “I’m excited for this movie to come out and for people to help me with what I experienced.”
The first trailer for the A24 release depicts full-frame close-ups of Holmes and Fielder, their faces inches apart, as they engage in one of a series of interactions that The New York Times labeled “so strange and unnerving.”
